Retail Media Firm Stagnito Buys Carbonview Research

September 27 2013

Deerfield, Illinois-based print and online media company Stagnito Media has acquired Carbonview Research, which provides custom primary market research and analysis for CPG manufacturers, retailers and agencies.

Retail Media Firm Stagnito Buys Carbonview ResearchStagnito, which itself became part of Long Island, NY-based Topspin Partners early last year, is responsible for publications including Progressive Grocer, Convenience Store News and Hispanic Retail 360, and organises retail industry events such as The Store Brands Decisions Innovation & Marketing Summit and The Hispanic Retail 360 Summit.

Carbonview was established in 2005 and provides panel-based market research and analysis to improve the performance of retail brands. President and CEO Harry Stagnito says the buy will improve his firm's understanding of the demographics and buying patterns of consumers and retailers, and help it to target new market sectors. He comments: 'This is a perfect fit for our current research capabilities, and the acquisition continues our investment in extending our value to the retail market.'

Carbonview President Rich Ratcliff says joining Stagnito will help the firm deliver on its 'primary goal... to provide productive, full service research solutions that also meet the time and budgetary needs of our clients.' He adds: 'Stagnito's leadership position in the market, comprehensive media resources, and depth of retail knowledge create significant synergies and the opportunity to provide more value than ever to the clients we serve.'

Stagnito has already acquired events and digital media company Tesoro Business Media, in the last two weeks, and recently bought three brands which target the private label market, from E.W. Williams Publications; but says it will continue to look for more acquisitions, and Stagnito hints: 'We'd be interested in something that's inside retail from a media perspective, but we're also interested in companies that can really measure demographics.'
