Cvent to Hire 400 for New Fairfax County HQ

October 25 2013

Web-based software developer Cvent is investing $7m in a plan to relocate its Fairfax County headquarters to a new location next to the Greensborough Metro Station, where it says it will create 400 new jobs.

Reggie AggarwalAs well as web survey technology, Cvent offers web-based software for meeting site selection, online event registration, event management and e-mail marketing. Back in 2011, the firm raised $136m for technology developments, including enhancements to its cloud-based web survey products, and earlier this year it opened an office in London, from which to support existing clients in Europe and continue to expand the business internationally.

In Fairfax County, the firm is now planning to lease about 130,000 square feet of office space in a building on Solutions Drive called 'Greensboro Station', named after its location next to a Metro station due to open in the first quarter of 2014. Cvent's move will take place later in the year.

State Governor Bob McDonnell has approved a $1m grant to assist Fairfax County with the project, and through the county's Virginia Jobs Investment Program, the Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide funding and services to support Cvent's recruitment and training activities.

CEO Reggie Aggarwal (pictured) comments: 'We have called this town home for more than a decade because it offers a central location conducive to continued expansion, including access to the right talent, proximity to the region's expanding tech sector, convenient transportation for our employees, and recreation and entertainment opportunities that make Fairfax County a great place to live and work.'
