Swiss company Sportradar, which specialises in content and information for the sports and betting sector, has acquired US-based statistics and research provider SportsData for an undisclosed sum.Founded in 2010 by Rob Phythian and Dave Abbott (pictured), SportsData's analysts and writers cover all major US sports and hundreds of leagues throughout the world. The firm also offers access to historical data including season cumulative and game-by-game stats, scores and schedules for major league baseball and NFL.
The combined firms will offer live products with coverage across more than 40 sports and 200,000 events. SportsData will focus on providing an expanded product portfolio to media customers, while Sportradar will complement its European product portfolio with US sports and betting-related content.
