Retail Data Firm Connexity Buys PriceGrabber

June 17 2015

In the US, marketing services company Connexity - previously known as Shopzilla - has announced the acquisition of leading retail lead-generation platform and network PriceGrabber. Terms were not disclosed.

One year ago, retail price comparison and online ad service Shopzilla combined services including AisleA and BizRate Insights into a new division named after media buying platform Connexity, which it had recently acquired. Shopzilla became a brand within Connexity three months later, reversing the previous arrangement and reflecting a repositioning of the firm, away from a focus on price comparison sites and towards services including lead generation, advanced audience modeling and Bizrate Insights - which gives retailers direct consumer feedback to improve relationships and online store experience.

PriceGrabber is based in Los Angeles with operations across North America and in the UK, and its shopping comparison data will strengthen Connexity's insight into consumer behavior, creating a major global source of high intent shopping leads.

Connexity CEO Bill Glass says the combined company will create 'a simplified solution for publishers to get their product content and monetization from a single API or feed, creating efficiency in the channel, and simplifying tracking and reporting'. Reports suggest Connexity will be the world's second largest product listing lead generation channel for retailers, after Google.
