Penton Buys Automotive Info and Events Company

January 5 2016

US-based information services company Penton has announced the acquisition of event and digital information company TU-Automotive from FC Business Intelligence. The firm will become part of the Penton Ground Transportation group.

Penton LogoPenton says TU's market is one of the auto industry's most innovative and fast-growing segments: connected vehicles, mobility and autonomous driving; and says connected devices are already changing the trucking industry by optimizing fuel efficiency via speed and brake usage. TU's services include events, networking, content and analysis on current topics and their implications for related industries. The firm provides digital content, analysis, education and business intelligence through its communications hub, analysis.tu-auto.com.

Penton says TU-Automotive's assets are 'highly complementary' with the existing coverage of its Ground Transportation group, led by VP Sue Boehlke who says the acquisition will help extend its markets 'beyond the United States into Europe, South America and Asia, with a core hub of operations in London'.

The group also plans a number of IoT (Internet of Things) launches in 2016 and says the buy will enhance these. 'IoT and connected devices are a major theme across Penton', according to its CEO, Time Warner and TNS veteran David Kieselstein, 'impacting many of our industry sectors including ground transportation, aviation, agriculture, technology and electronics'. Kieselstein continues: 'In 2016 we are launching a major IoT initiative to help companies break down the complexity. From sensors and platforms to data and security issues, we'll cover best practices to help businesses grappling with policy, strategy and implementation in the application of this new wave of technology'.

Penton, which last month launched a b2b targeting tool called the SmartReach Audience Extension, is privately owned and headquartered in New York. Web site: www.penton.com .
