Personal Data Sharing App Digi.me Raises Growth Funds

Personal data control and sharing platform Digi.me has raised £4.2m ($6.1m) in a Series A round of funding, which it will use to accelerate the development and launch of its technology.

The firm's app currently sources and gathers personal data about individuals - including pictures and posts from social media networks - in one place, and currently has more than 400,000 users in 140 countries. Later this year, the firm is planning to enable users to add their health and financial information, and share it with businesses in exchange for personalised services or rewards.

New funding has been led by re-insurer Swiss Re, and brings the total raised to date to £7.1m ($10.2m) since the firm launched in 2009. Digi.me founder and Chairman Julian Ranger (pictured) comments: 'This is a watershed moment for digi.me.
