Strong Second Quarter for Pureprofile

January 26 2021

Australia-based digital research platform Pureprofile has announced a record 26% increase in revenue for the quarter ending 31st December 2020. The total of $8.2m was driven by strong performance in all business units, and was 'well ahead of expectations', according to the firm.

Martin FilzPureprofile, which also has operations in the US, Europe and India, collects consumers' profile data through a large consumer panel and a suite of technology solutions, in exchange for rewards. In its Q2 financial statement, the company said it had successfully completed its recent $18.8m recapitalisation programme, with $3.5m in new cash raised, and debt reduced from $25m to $3m.

For the second quarter, Data & Insights revenue was up 23% to $1.2m, driven by growth in all regions - notably, the APAC region saw 30% revenue growth. The firm's Platform (SaaS) and Media business units grew 90% and 46% respectively.

EBITDA (unaudited) was up from $76.8k a year earlier to $742k, which the firm says was due to strong revenue growth in the quarter and driven by a number of initiatives including the appointment of Martin Filz (pictured) as CEO. Net cash from operating activities was an outflow of ($301k), an improvement of $179k on Q2 FY20. The company says that operating cash flow was impacted by the timing difference of payments made to the ATO (Australian Taxation Office) of $355k (payments for administration and corporate costs).

In its statement, Pureprofile said: 'Looking forward, the company is well positioned to take advantage of the impact privacy legislation is having on the ability for companies to generate their own insights and intelligence around theirs and competitor consumers. This is resulting in new and exciting data partnership discussions within existing and new markets, resulting in a very healthy pipeline'.
