Funds and New Integrations for NLP Firm Primer

San Francisco-based Natural Language Processing (NLP) company Primer has closed a $110m Series C funding round, and says it will open offices in London and Singapore, and accelerate recruitment in the US and globally.

Headed up by founder and CEO Sean Gourley (pictured), the company offers 'machines that can read and write' in English, Russian, Chinese and Arabic. Its 'industrial-grade' NLP platform uses what it calls a 'Named Entity Recognition model' (NER) to help organisations structure vast amounts of data and extract Insight to support rapid decision-making. It recently released Primer Automate, a no-code solution for users to build and train their own NLP models on their data; and also offers Primer Analyze, which gives access to intelligence through a scalable, self-curating knowledge base that can analyze 'billions of documents in seconds'.

The company has also announced integration with Microsoft, making Primer natively available within Azure; and with Palantir Technologies, Inc., making it available to deploy operational AI to US Government missions, including military use.

Funds came from Lee Fixel's Addition with participation from Steadfast, Sands Capital, and Hank Crumpton, former Ambassador-at-Large and US Coordinator for Counterterrorism and existing investors Lux Capital, DCVC, Amplify Partners and more. Lee Fixel has joined Primer's board.
