LG Ads Debuts River OS TV Personalization Service

September 13 2021

In the US, Connected TV data and measurement company LG Ads has launched a TV operating system called River OS, which enables personalized search, discovery, recommendations and viewing across live linear and on-demand sources.

John GeeLG Ads offers an ad targeting platform providing a single source of connected TV inventory from 20 million smart TVs in the US, combined with cross-screen targeting data from eight different smart TV and connected TV device brands. The new River OS uses natural language processing to understand who is watching TV, and delivers recommendations tailored to the tastes of each individual in the household, without the need to manually switch between profiles.

Content recommendations and program listings are served up in a personalized home page for the specific person watching TV, enabling automated navigation regardless of app, HDMI input, or streaming service.

John Gee (pictured), Chief Business Development Officer for LG Ads, comments: 'With streaming dominating viewing time today, it's still too hard for people to find, discover and enjoy the programs they want to watch, across literally thousands of content sources available. River OS solves that challenge by delivering voice-controlled smart TV features that consumers will find innovative and essential'.
