Global Telecoms Recovery Continues

February 17 2005

The global telecoms industry showed modest growth in 2004 and should continue it in 2005, according to Insight Research. The report predicts a compounded annual growth rate of 5.9% from 2005 to 2010.

Following a gruelling few years, the review, The 2005 Telecom Industry Review: An Anthology of Market Facts and Forecasts, predicts growth from $1.1 trillion in 2005 to $1.5 trillion in 2010. North America is expected to show the lowest rate of revenue growth and Asia-Pacific the highest, with particularly rapid advances in VoIP, WiFi and streaming media, technological innovations in fiber optics, DWDM and WDM.

Insight's President Robert Rosenberg says a return to historic levels of growth industry-wide is expected, but with strong variations by region and sector. 'Asia-Pacific and Latin-America Caribbean are forecasted to enjoy the fastest overall broadband growth while North America and Europe lag. Wireless communications will continue to displace wireline communications for voice calling - and as the number of wireless 2.5G and 3G data services increases, wireless will continue to squeeze traditional land line calling'.

The report covers market trends; network infrastructure; broadband, narrowband, and wireless access; network support; telecom services; and enterprise markets. A free excerpt and table of contents are available at www.insight-corp.com/review05.asp
