VP Research for Semiconductor Specialist

US-based semiconductor design software company Synopsys, Inc. has appointed a Vice President of Market Research and Strategy. Bill Frerichs will be responsible for competitive analysis, customer and market research and strategic planning.

Frerichs joins from the Oregon-based investment bank D.A. Davidson & Co. where he was a senior research analyst and the technology team leader, publishing the influential investor letter 'The Tapeout' covering semiconductors and EDA. Frerichs was cited in the Wall Street Journal 2001 'Best on the Street' analysts survey for his coverage of EDA.

His previous career included work as an analyst team leader at Black & Co., now part of Wells Fargo Securities.
