UK Fieldwork Specialists Join Forces

April 25 2005

Fieldwork agencies JLRS and Select Research are merging to form JLRS-Select. The new company will be one of the UK's most experienced qual recruitment agencies.

JLRS was founded by Jill Lonsdale in 1989 and Select Research by Richard Barnes in 1995. Prior to starting their own companies, Barnes spent time at HPI Research and Research International and Lonsdale, now married to former BMRA Chairman Peter Jackling, worked for Gordon Simmons, SDG Research and Accent.

The new company will operate to MRQSA standards, Select having qualified for the scheme and won consistently high appraisal ratings from inspectors for its client handling systems. The new agency will continue to offer recruitment of groups, depths and usability tests, plus other fieldwork services under the MRQSA system.

Barnes says that Select 'tend to focus on retail and consumer work, including our work on 3D body sizing, whereas JLRS tend to specialise in usability, Internet and business to business research so the companies complement each other. Our clients work in diverse research areas, and we can now concentrate on servicing those requirements. We have over 70 years worth of senior level expertise under one roof, so there shouldn't a brief that we can't fulfil!'

The two companies' web sites are at www.jlrs.co.uk and www.selectresearch.com - a site for the new company is in development.
