Former ABI Chief Economist Joins IQ

UK financial and professional services specialist IQ Research [IQR] has appointed Janette Weir as a Director. Weir will work alongside Julian Green, Group MD, and will focus on the insurance and asset management segments but apply her expertise to projects across the whole financial services sector.

Weir joins from Datamonitor Plc where, since November 2003, she was Lead Analyst for Life and Pensions, responsible for developing syndicated life and pensions studies and developing a broad portfolio of financial research products. Prior to that, she spent four years at McKinsey & Company where she was Head of UK Financial Services Research and European Asset Management Research. She worked for the Department of Social Security until 1995 when she became Chief Economist at the Association of British Insurers (ABI).

According to Green, Weir was selected for her 'pragmatic research approach to the commercial issues facing financial services organisations, coupled with her detailed understanding of how the different elements of the industry operate and inter-relate' - and for her business development abilities.
