Arbitron Promotion

May 16 2005

Arbitron Inc. has promoted Gary Marince, the man behind its MapMAKER software, to VP Programming Services and Development.

Marince has spent the last nine years at the company and has a background in radio software design. He was previously VP, Product Development, leading the firm's efforts to develop diary-based software applications for use by group owners, managers and program directors. His new focus is on helping radio station programmers to interpret and make better use of Arbitron's radio ratings.

Prior to joining the firm, he held engineering and programming positions at radio stations in Pittsburgh. He was program director at WWSW-FM, where he helped launch the station's very successful '3-W-S Radio, All Oldies All the Time' format. Marince used his technical experience to develop software which used Arbitron ratings information to help his station identify and target key neighborhoods for the format, and Arbitron purchased the software, which today is licensed as MapMAKER - he joined the agency shortly after.

Marince holds a BA in Communications from Penn State University, and based in Pittsburgh.

VP Marketing Dennis Seely says Marince has a 'unique blend of major market broadcast experience'. Arbitron is online at www.arbitron.com
