VoIP Revolution for Researchers, Says VOXCO

June 16 2005

The switch to Voice over IP technology (VOIP), combined with outsourced workflow models will 'shake the foundations of the market research industry' according to new research by software supplier VOXCO.

VOXCO talked to US Survey Research firms to measure the impact of business process outsourcing and voice over IP, in order to benchmark key trends for a presentation at the CASRO 10th annual Technology Conference.

The company says that 'despite the rapid rise of web-based data collection, most MR agencies are using telephone as a primary mode to collect research data. On average they are spending per year $100,357 on long distance communications, for a total of more than $8.5 million dollars annually within the North American research community'. VoIP technologies will bring a range of benefits, including more flexible infrastructure and telephony management and long distance comms savings reach millions of dollars per year.

Voxco President Daniel Coates says making the most of the new technology requires a lot more thought than a mere hardware hook-up with existing telephone systems. 'The opportunities inherent within this new paradigm require companies to rethink their infrastructure and workflow, pointing to a future where distributed resources leverage a centralized, multi-lingual and multi-modal platform. The fundamental benefit of IP in the call center is that it provides infinitely long wires that can transcend geographies, organizations and operational silos'.

Full results will be disclosed at the CASRO 10th Annual Technology conference held in New York at the Roosevelt Hotel on June 17th & 18th, in a panel discussion on 'VoIP and the Market Research Industry'.

Voxco has offices in Montreal, New-York, Paris, London and Mannheim. Its web site is at www.voxco.com
