Dr Mark Mullins has been appointed Executive Director of Canadian public policy research organisation the Fraser Institute.

Mullins has been with the Institute since 2003 as Director of Ontario Policy Studies. Previous roles include President of consulting firm MSG Hedge Corporation, and Senior VP and Chief Economist at investment dealers Midland Walwyn Capital. In the past, he's worked as economic and fiscal policy advisor to the Canadian Alliance Party and the Progressive Conservative Party. He holds an MA from the University of Western Ontario and a PhD from the London School of Economics.

In his new role, Mullins will be responsible for directing the research program, communicating the results of the Institute's work, and managing 50 staff and 23 research fellows. The Institute's current Executive Director and Co-Founder, Dr Michael Walker, will become President of the newly established Fraser Institute Foundation.

R J Addington, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, welcomed Mullins to his new role and stated: 'We have been in very good hands with Michael Walker for the past 31 years, and we are certain the Institute will achieve even greater successes in the years ahead.'
