Free US RadioStudy Ready to Roll Nationwide

August 9 2005

US-based BIGresearch has joined forces with marketing company Tunecom to provide a new and free research service for local radio stations. The RadioStudy tool gives stations customised listener data and insights so that they can better represent their audience's spending power and shopping intentions to advertisers.

The service is provided free to qualifying stations, and provides up-to-date data - usually less than 30 days old - about listeners to an individual station. As well as typical demographic information, it can offer information about local shopping habits, future purchase intentions, and simultaneous media usage. The service has been tested over the past year with stations throughout the country, and the national rollout is due to begin.

Chuck Francis, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Tunecom, explains why such a tool is so important in the current climate: 'Online, satellite radio, gaming and podcasting have all captured recent headlines, and the ad dollars are starting to follow, which only compounds the problem for radio. Pinpoint targeting of the consumer is key.' According to Gary Drenik, President of BIGResearch, RadioStudy 'is almost a 'no brainer' for stations looking to grow revenues'.

There is positive feedback from users, too. Mark Biviano, Executive Sales Director of Rubber City Radio Group in Ohio, says 'RadioStudy is like a crystal ball for our advertisers, telling them everything they need to know about listeners - how much money they make, where they shop, and how much they spend'. Rubber City's VP of Operations, Nick Anthony, explains the station's confidence in the data: 'These studies are compiled using 500, 600, 700 of our own listeners... that's a larger sample than most use to measure the entire market.'
