The US Council for Marketing and Opinion Research (CMOR) has hired lawyer Donna Gillin, previously the organisation's Director of Government Affairs, as its Director of Operations. The organisation, which works to promote the integrity of the MR industry, has also introduced a tagline - 'Shielding the Profession' - and relaunched its web site.
Gillin has worked with CMOR in several capacities, including Legislative Assistant, Research Counsel, and most recently Director of Government Affairs from 1994 to 2004. In her previous role, she monitored and advocated legislation that affected the survey research industry, worked with government agencies to promote the integrity of research, and advised industry members on privacy policies and data management. She also worked with the Global Legislative Initiative (GLI), helped to form the North American Survey Research Alliance (NASRA), and conducted CMOR Privacy Law Seminars for the survey research industry. CMOR describes her as 'the parent of privacy and government affairs for the marketing and opinion research profession'.
