Keynote Acquires Web Benchmarking Firm

December 9 2005

US customer measurement and analysis specialist Keynote Systems has bought the GómezPro business unit of Watchfire, which specialises in a heuristics-based approach to benchmarking web site effectiveness. The division will be renamed Keynote WebExcellence.

Keynote Systems says the acquisition underscores the company's commitment to providing customer experience management (CEM) technologies and services. It is Keynote's thirteenth acquisition in a little over five years, and follows the acquisitions of other CEM specialists Enviz, NetRaker and Vividence.

Five research analysts will join Keynote from Watchfire, including Christopher Musto, VP of Research. The new unit will provide the following services:

  • WebExcellence Scorecards (previously Watchfire GómezPro Scorecard) - a web-based subscription service that ranks financial services firms' sites, and
  • WebExcellence Analysis Service - a custom consultative service that builds on the Scorecard to provide deeper competitive analysis, site analysis and best practices.
Umang Gupta, Chair and CEO of Keynote, says: 'Adding a heuristics approach to optimizing web site effectiveness is a very useful complement to our existing quantitative-based CEM offerings.'

Peter McKay, President and CEO of Watchfire, says his company's decision to sell the GómezPro business unit allows the company to sharpen its focus on its core business, which consists of 'software to manage enterprise online risk and web application security testing'.

The two companies' web sites are at www.keynote.com and www.watchfire.com.
