Lord Bell Rings in Research 2006

December 15 2005

Lord Bell, Chair of Chime Communications and former PR advisor to Margaret Thatcher, will deliver the opening speech at Research 2006 - the annual conference of the UK's Market Research Society. The conference will also include a 'strategy game' workshop focused on career development.

Bell's keynote address will offer his views on the impact of research on business. Kevin McLean, Conference Programme Chair, says of Bell: 'He has spent his career using research to meet complex communications objectives, and his experiences are relevant to many sectors and professions. He is the ideal keynote to set the tone for a conference with a difference.' Bell's Chime Communications includes social research firm Opinion Leader Research and corporate social responsibility research specialist The SMART Company.

He joins two other keynote speakers: Richard Reed, co-founder of Innocent Drinks, and Adrian Furnham, professor of psychology at University College London. They will all discuss the role of research from their own, very different, viewpoints.

Another new addition to the conference is a training workshop led by Paul Cushing of RPCushing Recruitment. Cushing will use an interactive strategy game to guide delegates through their career development plans. Entrants will ask the panel questions from 'which job should I be looking at?' to 'how do I get where I want to be?', and the panel will offer several solutions. The audience will then vote for the best solution.

McLean says the conference is all about getting involved. 'For those who like to sit back and listen to great brains from across the business community, Lord Bell kicks off an outstanding programme - but for those who like to interact and pick up skills they can take back to the office, the conference also provides just that.'

Details of the conference, to be held from 22nd to 24th March 2006 at the Barbican, London, are online at
