Simon Lidington is the new Chairman of the UK's Market Research Society (MRS). Lidington, UK CEO of Research International until last November and now at The Insight Exchange, beat off a strong challenge from Age Concern's Leslie Sopp by 35 votes.
Lidington received 380 votes and Sopp 345. Sopp and three others have been elected to the Society's council - the others are Crispin Beale, of the Post Office, Susan Rogers, of Rogers International, and Susan Blackall of Research International. Alan Wilson, of the University of Strathclyde Business School, was re-elected. The new council takes office from 1 April, also the day the BMRA disappears.
More details of the MRS and the council are on the MRS' web site at www.mrs.org.uk
