Synovate Expands Online Panels in Europe/Asia Pacific

May 4 2006

Synovate has announced the rapid expansion of its global opinion panels across Europe and in the Asia Pacific region; and has appointed Emiel van Wegen and Shaun Griffin to help guide the process.

Exploiting growth opportunities in Asia Pacific, and clients' requests for quality access panels across this region, Synovate ViewsNet is rapidly establishing online panels in Australia, Japan and Korea. Commenting on this roll-out, Jonathan Jephcott, EVP ViewsNet, Synovate's Global Panel and Online Research Division, said, 'Synovate has a significant presence across Asia Pacific and offering clients proprietary access panels and innovative online and panel thinking is a natural extension of our capabilities. In this spirit, we intend also to open panels in other markets in the region over the course of this year, including in China, Hong Kong and Singapore.'

On completion of this phase, Synovate's Global Opinion Panels will provide clients with access to more than 3.5 million individuals worldwide. To support this growth Synovate has appointed van Wegen as Director, Client Service and Training for Europe and Griffin, Director Client Service and Training for Asia Pacific. Both will report to Jonathan Jephcott.

'These two appointments are consistent with the strategy that we announced in July 2005 that Synovate ViewsNet will be a global force in panels and online research,' said Jephcott. 'We are committed to investing in experienced people with online and panel skills to support our clients with state-of-the-art services and augment Synovate's skilled market researchers in both Europe and Asia Pacific.'

Griffin resides in Perth, Australia and has been with Market Equity, a leading Australian market research company recently acquired by Synovate, for more than 10 years, while van Wegen, based in Amsterdam, brings more than 10 years of financial and online marketing research experience to the role.

In their new positions, both van Wegen and Griffin are responsible for developing training programs for conducting online and panel research in support of Synovate's ViewsNet online and panel division. Additionally, both will be extensively involved in consulting with local researchers and business development directors in their respective regions to ensure they have the requisite knowledge and sales material to increase Synovate's share of online and panel projects.
