ABI Seeks Monopoly of RFID Experts

June 6 2006

ABI Research has added RFID analyst Michael Liard to its team studying the booming retail technology. He joins from Venture Development Corp (VDC), where he was practice director for RFID/Automatic Identification.

Liard spent six years at VDC in pioneering RFID research roles. He wrote more than 20 reports on RFID and AIDC and is a widely recognised speaker on the topic both at industry presentations and in press interviews. Earlier in his career, Liard worked as a Change Management Analyst at Accenture. He holds a BA in political science from Providence College.

Clint Wheelock, the firm's VP of Research, says the hire brings together the two analysts his clients speak of as thought leaders in the field of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification). The other, Erik Michielsen, is already at ABI. 'We're building a championship team here in RFID,' concludes Wheelock, 'and there's practically nobody else in the same league. Mike will be a key player in the ongoing expansion of our RFID market coverage.'

ABI was founded in 1990 and has its headquarters in New York. Its home page is at www.abiresearch.com .
