K-C Puts Insight at the Heart of its Business

Kimberly-Clark Corporation has announced the appointment of former Kellogg's MD Anthony J. Palmer, in the new role of Chief Marketing Officer, with responsibility for leading the development of a new insight-driven focus for the firm.

Reporting to Chairman and CEO Thomas J. Falk, Palmer will work with the leaders of the company's consumer, health care and professional businesses to ensure actionable customer insights are used as the basis of business strategies. Reporting to him, the company is creating a marketing center of excellence focused on insights generation, talent and best practice development, combining the disciplines of market research, media planning and agency management.

Palmer, who describes the new role as 'a dream assignment', has worked in global marketing and management at some of the world's top CPG companies, most recently as MD of Kellogg Company and previously President of its natural, frozen and warehouse club businesses. From 1996 to 2000 he worked at Coca-Cola Company USA, and later as region director for the firm in Australia. Previous companies were CSR Refined Sugars, Mars Confectionery Australia and two consultancies, The PA Consulting Group and The LEK Partnership between 1986 and 1992. He has a bachelor of science degree in marketing from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, and an MBA degree from the International Management Institute in Geneva, Switzerland.
