'Bump' Back at IRI

November 15 2006

In the US, Information Resources, Inc. (IRI) has re-hired beverage alcohol expert David 'Bump' Williams, in the role of Executive VP and General Manager of its Beer, Wine and Spirits and Wall Street practices in North America.

Williams, a regularly cited source for many top Wall Street analyst firms and industry trade publications, has more than 25 years of CPG and beverage alcohol experience, recently as Senior VP, National Accounts and Retail Strategies for the Colorado-based New Belgium Brewing Company. He began his career with the Procter & Gamble Distributing Company and later worked with the ACNielsen Company, heading up its business development and client service group for the East Coast region. From here, he moved to a first stint at IRI as Client Service VP, managing the Anheuser-Busch business and other beverage customers, going on to lead the firm's Wall Street vertical and development of its beverage alcohol vertical practice. He has a master's degree from The Ohio State University and a bachelor's degree from North Adams State College.

IRI's President and CEO Scott W. Klein comments: 'Bump's unique beverage alcohol expertise, strategic thinking and strong industry relationships will add critical fuel to the growth of these vertical practices and the value we provide our clients and the marketplace.' John Lawlor, President of IRI CPG and Healthcare Solutions North America, says the rapidly evolving beverage alcohol marketplace requires 'unique domain expertise and highly specialized products and solutions', and adds that IRI is committed to delivering 'completely new forms of predictive, analytically-based consumer and retailer insights for these critical sectors.'

Bump himself says the industry and its equity analysts are looking for 'disruptive change in the way they evaluate and drive business', and that he aims to drive IRI, 'long recognized as the gold standard' for information on the sector, to become the 'platinum standard'.
