Arbitron Debuts Mobile Diary Option

December 15 2006

Arbitron has unveiled a preview of a new version of its electronic diary, which enables radio ratings surveys to be conducted through mobile Internet-capable devices.

The new eDiary is the 'on-the-go' version of Arbitron's current PC-based electronic radio diary and is targeted for markets that are not being measured by the firm's PPM device.

The latest product is currently being tested on a wide array of tools such as the BlackBerry, Palm Treo, Windows Mobile and Symbian smartphones, and was demonstrated yesterday to an audience of consultants at the firm's head office in Manhattan.

Ed Cohen, Vice President, Domestic Research, Arbitron explained: 'As we roll out the Portable People Meter, the electronic diary is a parallel effort that will help keep the diary method more appealing to Internet-savvy younger adults, a population that currently tends to be underrepresented among paper-and-pencil diary keepers. Once you have the infrastructure for an Internet-based diary, adapting it for Internet-enabled mobile devices is a logical next step.'

Arbitron can be found online at www.arbitron.com .
