Yahoo! has lost its VP of Brand Marketing, Murray Gaylord, to NYTimes.com. Gaylord spent six years in the Yahoo! role and joins the online paper on January 8th.
He will report to SVP Vivian Schiller and will be responsible for research and web analytics as well as more general marketing and customer service.
NYTimes.com has ambitious plans for the year, including new multi-platform products and services and the building of an 'innovation capability' to anticipate long-term trends. According to MediaPost.com, Gaylord himself aims to attract more attention from younger readers, define the brand more clearly and 'embrace more web 2.0 features'.
