Holmes Joins Essential

Industry veteran and MRS Fellow Cliff Holmes has been appointed a Non-Executive Director of Essential Research, the specialist media research agency launched in 2005 year by three former BBC Audience Researchers.

Holmes will provide statistical, sampling and advanced analytics expertise and training, and help with company strategy and growth. In addition to his FMRS he is an ex-Council member of the organisation and has worked as Deputy MD of Marplan, Director of BDL and a Director of ORC / GSR, where he established new product research company NOW Research. Most recently he worked as a Technical Consultant at Synovate, responsible for the Group's Sampling and Statistical division.

Co-Founder Alex Charlton comments: 'We are delighted to announce Cliff's appointment as a Non-Executive Director... gaining such a senior industry figure [in only our second year of trading] is a real coup'.

Essential achieved revenues of just under £300k in its first year of trading and expects sales of around £1.2m in year two. The agency is also about to start a further round of recruitment and is looking to hire three full-time staff to add to its existing seven – Holmes' role will also include assisting with staff recruitment, training and development.
