New Global Insight Role at Interpublic Marcoms Agency

Interpublic has promoted Michael Fassnacht to the new position of Chief Customer Intelligence Officer for DraftFCB, the marketing communications agency formed last summer by combining its Draft and Foote Cone & Belding units around the world.

Fassnacht was previously Director of Customer Intelligence in the firm's Chicago office, and will continue this role in addition to his new responsibilities overseeing data and customer insight for all the global agency's offices.

He has more than 15 years' experience leading and managing marketing, e-commerce and customer loyalty programs for global companies. He was founding President and CEO of Loyalty Matrix until a year ago, then continued as a board director of the company guiding the development of new products and services for customer intelligence.

He worked previously as VP of International Sales and Client Services for Netcentives, as General Manager of Lufthansa's Miles and More program, and in key management positions at car supply firm KoenigMetall and business think tank SudwestMetall in Freiburg, Germany. He has a degree in Economics and Germanic studies from the University of Goettingen and UC Irvine.

Laurence Boschetto, the agency's worldwide President and COO, described Fassnacht as 'the consummate data guru, whose knowledge, understanding and innovation in the use of customer data has made him an industry expert'. Fassnacht will report to Boschetto on global and corporate functions and to Chicago President Mark Modesto on local market matters.

The new role will see Fassnacht working to expand the agency's customer data practices in markets such as China, India, Europe and Brazil.

The agency has also widened the role of Anil Kapoor, Regional President with responsibility for India and six countries in SE Asia, to cover the whole of the Asia-Pacific region except China, which remains in the remit of Mark Pacchini, President of Global Accounts. Kapoor will also oversee the agency's African operations.
