KN Signs Yellow Pages Research Veteran

March 12 2007

Knowledge Networks/SRI has hired Yellow Pages and telecom industries veteran Jim D'Arcangelo to head its directory research program, including Yellow Pages Market ReporterSM (YPMR).

D'Arcangelo has in-depth experience on both the client and supplier side. On the latter, he was President of the Telecom Group at NFO Worldwide, leading the division's turnaround and expansion into the Internet and mobile space, and in the mid-1990s served as Executive Vice President of The Kelsey Group. He was also the first head of Marketing and Business Development as Senior VP at Media Metrix.

On the client side, he worked at Bell Atlantic (now Verizon) Yellow Pages, as a district sales manager and advertising, public relations and sales promotion head on the local side, and then managing the national advertising sales channel.

Knowledge Networks/SRI was established in 2001 when KN acquired assets and expertise from Statistical Research. YPMR, now in its third year, measures consumer usage of specific Yellow Pages directories nationwide, covering 233 Directory Distribution Areas (DDAs) and representing 52% of consumers. Subscribers include all of the major directory publishers and most of the large agencies (CMRs) selling Yellow Pages advertising.

KN's CEO Simon Kooyman comments: 'Jim has sold and managed local Yellow Pages, led a national sales channel, and been a pioneer at the front edge of the Internet, interactive local media, and, recently, the quickly evolving telecom space. We are excited to have him on board...'

D'Arcangelo himself says, 'We are building on an extraordinary symbiosis of 25-plus years between KN/SRI and the Yellow Pages medium' but adds: 'there is much more work and opportunity at hand. I am excited about the chance to steward and expand this unique relationship.'
