Survey Sampling Launches Online Panel in China

March 14 2007

US-based Survey Sampling International (SSI), has launched an online Chinese panel, to be managed from its SSI Asia HQ in Beijing.

SSI began recruiting for the new panel at the end of 2006, and has already signed up more than 70,000 panel members, with plans to increase to more than 300,000 in 2007. The firm has developed a panel web site, known as Ji Si Wang, which translates as 'web site collecting ideas'.

Kees de Jong, the firm's Director of Globalisation, commented: 'China has become a huge consumer market, representing 20% of the world's population. SSI is delighted to be in partnership with the expertise of a local panel in China to take full advantage of this growth.'

While the firm's other panels do not offer panel incentives, membership of the Chinese panel offers points, which can be collected and exchanged for money or donated to charity. Members are being recruited through web portals, online forums and blogs, and e-mail vendors.

With offices in Australia, China, France, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, Spain, UK, and the US, SSI provides MR firms with access to proprietary panels of nearly 9 million household members, representing more than 3.7 million unique households worldwide.

The company is online at www.surveysampling.com .
