TNS Australia Buys Travel Researcher

May 8 2007

TNS has expanded its focus in the travel sector with its acquisition of the Sydney-based Travel Research Centre (TRC), and consolidated MD Carolyn Childs' role as Director, Travel and Leisure Research.

Formed in 1993, TRC specialises in research for airlines and related industries. The firm provides syndicated surveys across 15 countries, designed to provide an understanding of airline travellers and their behaviours. In addition, its Business Travel Monitor conducts research among recent and frequent travellers in the business community, and the Leisure Travel Monitor concentrates on the holiday market.

Chris Riquier, Managing Director, TNS Oceania said: 'TRC's wealth of experience in the private travel and leisure sector is a strategic complement to TNS Australia's public sector offering.'

Childs has been working with international airlines and travel companies for more than a decade, including a period heading the market research function for IATA in London. She joined TRC in 1998 as Managing Director and has since represented the firm at many conferences on customer service, benchmarking and airline marketing.

Riquier continued: 'I am delighted to have Carolyn on board and am enthusiastic to see the sector continue to grow in line with our regional strategy. I believe that, with our combined knowledge and experience, we are now a pivotal operator in this specialised area of research.'

As well as its Sydney headquarters, TRC has an office in London. It is online at www.travelresearchcentre.com , while TNS Australia is on the web at www.tns-global.com.au .
