Funds for Analyst of User-Generated Content

July 27 2007

Israeli web search and research startup Omgili Ltd has obtained seed funding from Pitango Venture Capital, enabling it to pursue plans to commercialize its technology for the analysis of user-generated content.

Omgili's search and research services are based on advanced discussion group search technologies, offering clients an ear to the ground for millions of online discussions worldwide in over 100,000 boards and forums. The crawler-based, vertical search engine scans discussions and differentiates between components like titles, topics, posts, replies and dates.

Omgili CEO Ran Geva says his firm's mission is 'to harness the infinite power of 'many to many' web communication platforms for the benefit of our customers'. He adds: 'User Generated Content is a vast sea of knowledge and experience that is now at everyone's disposal.'

Pitango General Partner Rona Segev-Gal says Omgili is 'a technologically innovative company that's bringing something genuinely new to the online search and research space.' Omgili, whose name is an acronym of 'Oh My God I Love It!', was founded only three months ago - Pitango invests in high-growth companies in seed and early stages and has funds totalling over $1bn in committed capital.
