BBC Worldwide Names VP Research

In the UK, BBC Worldwide has promoted Stella Creasey to the newly created role of VP of Research for Global TV Sales.

Stella CreaseyIn her new position - part of the division's strategy to become 'more customer and consumer focused' - Creasey will lead a new research team to provide the division with insight into the performance of its catalogue.

Global TV Sales MD Steve Macallister said of the appointment: 'I am delighted that Stella has agreed to join our team. She has a fantastic pedigree working at a senior level in audience insight in both Europe and Australia, and more recently in BBC Marketing, Communications & Audiences.'

Macallister explained that the BBC is on a drive to deepen its insight into market trends and consumer viewing habits and that Creasey's experience in telecoms, digital and traditional media would be invaluable to the Global TV Sales business.

Creasey has worked as a marketing and research professional for more than 14 years in the UK, Australia and Europe. She joined the BBC in 2003 as Head of New Media Audience Research and is currently Development Executive for Creativity and Audiences. Previously, she was Manager Market and Customer Insights for telecoms supplier SingTel Optus in Sydney, and before this she worked for British Telecom where she managed ad hoc business research. She has a degree in International Business and Italian from Sheffield Hallam University.

On Friday, the BBC announced that Ofcom's former Director of Market Research and current Director of Media Literacy and Convergent Media, Helen Normoyle, is to join as Head of Audiences (www.mrweb.com/drno/news8029.htm ).

Creasey will join BBC Worldwide in London at the end of March. The division, which had 2006/07 sales of £810m, last year sold around 40,000 hours of television programming to overseas buyers, with profits delivered back to the BBC to supplement the Corporation's licence fee funding.
