Synovate Buys Retail Specialist

March 10 2008

Synovate has announced the acquisition of UK company Peter Seagroatt & Associates (PS&A), which focuses on the supply of retail key account information to the UK petrol forecourt and convenience sectors.

PS&A has gross assets of £3.3m, was established in 1994 and is based in Essex. It will now be integrated into the international retail information business Synovate Aztec, which has 300 staff in 10 countries. In the three years since its purchase of Aztec, Synovate has introduced the software firm's technology in Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, South Africa, the UK, Belgium and France.

Synovate bought SPSL, Europe's leading provider of footfall equipment and analysis to major retailers, in December 2007 (www.mrweb.com/drno/news7709.htm ). Of the latest buy, Global CEO Adrian Chedore comments: 'The combination of PS&A's data access and customer base, coupled with Aztec's world-class software tools, will result in an improved service for UK retail data clients.' However, he adds: 'This latest acquisition signals our determination to be a leading player within the retail area not only in the UK but also globally.'

PS&A Chairman Peter Seagroatt says his firm needs access to the best software available in the market in order to move forward. 'In my opinion, the Synovate Aztec tools are the top choice in the market.'
