Ofcom Appoints Channel 4 Strategy Director

In the UK, broadcast regulator Ofcom has hired Jonathan Thompson as its new Director of Strategy, to start in June. Thompson is currently Channel 4's Director of Strategy and Research.

Jonathan ThompsonSince joining Channel 4 ten years ago, Thompson has been responsible for leading corporate strategy across the organisation, and for all audience research across programming, marketing and advertising sales. He was previously at media consultants Hydra Associates.

Ofcom's Partner for Strategy and Market Developments Peter Phillips remarked: 'Jonathan's expertise will help Ofcom deliver high quality work which benefits citizens and consumers.'

Last month, the BBC announced that Ofcom's former Director of Market Research and current Director of Media Literacy and Convergent Media, Helen Normoyle, is to join in May as Head of Audiences (www.mrweb.com/drno/news8029.htm ).
