Senior US Hires for TNS Healthcare

In the US, TNS Healthcare has made three new senior hires, appointing Marty Silverman as SVP/Practice Leader, Sales Force Effectiveness; Michael Smolens as VP of Brand Research: and Porter Hibbitts VP Client Services, Brand Management.

Silverman joins with more than 30 years' pharma experience, having most recently worked as VP Sales and Marketing Operations at Esprit Pharma. Prior to this, he worked at Eisai, Collagenex, Novo-Nordisk and Reed & Carnrick, and on the vendor side was Director of Marketing for Scott-Levin. He began his career in the industry at Schering, and has a BS in Biology from Union College and an MBA in Marketing from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

In his new role, Silverman will lead TNS Healthcare's Sales Force Effectiveness Practice, working with pharma and biotech companies to maximize the effectiveness, productivity and ROI of their sales and service activities.

Smolens previously served as a Senior Product Manager at AstraZeneca, where he had begun his career as a Senior Market Research Analyst. Prior to this, Smolens was a Project Manager at Strategic Marketing Corporation, managing all phases of qual and quant market research projects. He started in the industry at Migliara Kaplan as a Senior Quant Analyst/Project Manager. He holds a BA in Economics from the University of Arizona and an MA in Economics from the University of Delaware.

Hibbitts has a pharma background spanning almost two decades, with a focus on business development in both marketing research and sales effectiveness. Most recently he was Director of Business Development at Caduceus Marketing Research, and before this, he was VP Business Development for Double Helix and VP Key Account Management for Market Measures/Cozint (part of NOP World Health). In addition, he led his own consulting firm, working with ad agencies and other firms servicing the pharma industry. Before moving supplier side, Hibbitts worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb, having begun his pharma career at GlaxoSmithKline. He has a BS in Advertising and Public Relations from Texas Christian University, and an MBA in Marketing from Texas Tech University.
