Access Intelligence Sells Telecoms Arm

August 5 2008

In the US, information and marketing company Access Intelligence (AI) has sold its Telecom Intelligence Group (TIG) to investor-backed firm T3i Group - a newly formed entity established by financier Richard Dorfman specifically to make this acquisition. Terms were not disclosed.

Richard DorfmanTIG provides market research, data, analysis, and consulting and advisory services to the telecommunications industry. The firm, which has four operating units - Tarifica, TelecomTactics, TelecomWeb and InfoTech - has now been re-branded as T3i Group.

Former parent AI serves the energy, chemical, defense, aerospace and communications markets. CEO Donald Pazour explained that his firm had decided to sell TIG as it was not a 'close strategic fit' with the rest of the business, and added that AI will maintain a minority equity interest in the new entity.

'We see great opportunities to expand TIG's business around the globe,' commented Dorfman. 'We believe T3i Group with its robust databases, mission-critical reports and thought-leading analysts is well-positioned to become an even more vital resource for industry participants in the years to come.'

CEO Michael O'Neill and members of TIG's senior management team have invested in T3i Group and will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations along with John Lilley, who heads the London office, and Debra Baker, Editor in Chief of TelecomWeb.
