SmarterTools Analytics Launch

August 29 2008

US software firm SmarterTools has released a new web log analytics tool whose enhanced features include data mining, an optimized web interface and the ability to filter spider and bot traffic from site stats.

The firm says the ability to split traffic generated by search engines and other automated source, from actual user visits, is not available in 'traditional script-based solutions' such as Google Analytics but is essential to obtain a 'true measure' of web site usage. Its statistics suggest that around 30% to 60% of web site traffic is generated automatically, tracking these visits.

In addition, the new SmarterStats 4 x tool enables data mining, and through Microsoft Silverlight technology, offers an optimized web interface with advanced AJAX controls and keyboard shortcuts, as well as charting options.

The system can be configured to measure statistics on a single web site, or up to 30,000 web sites on Windows or Linux servers, from one central SmarterStats installation. Log files can be viewed within the interface and can be reprocessed as reports or data needs change.

'Site owners, businesses and webmasters need statistics that they can trust without exposing their data to unrelated third parties,' explained CEO Tim Uzzanti: 'We provide the solution without requiring them to spend time and money re-coding their sites like competing script-based solutions.'

Founded in 2003, SmarterTools produces IT management tools to simplify and automate day-to-day IT operations. Web site: www.smartertools.com .
