Marlow Accused Left Her 'Tied Up but Alive'

September 23 2008

The man accused of murdering Cathy Marlow at Research Now's offices in South London, has said that she was still alive when he left the building.

Marlow's former colleague Matthew Fagan was sacked by Research Now nine months before he returned to steal computers from the office on Saturday 13 January, 2007. There he and his accomplice reportedly ran into Marlow, a Finance Manager who had gone into the office at the weekend to catch up with her workload.

Fagan told the Old Bailey that after a struggle, Marlow had been tied her up with her own scarf and a towel, and left in the hallway.

The court heard that after cleaning himself up, Fagan returned to see her to apologise for what had happened. He told the jury that he then left the accomplice, named John, with her as he left the building.

Marlow was later found in the office shower cubicle, having been strangled with the scarf. Fagan denies murder.

The trial continues.
