Intel Funds Telligent with $20m

In the US, investment firm Intel Capital has acquired a $20m stake in Telligent System, a Californian-based firm which designs solutions for online communities and social networks, along with business intelligence tools.

Rob HowardTelligent plans to use the funds to expand its sales teams and territories, including growth in international markets, and enhance its marketing, advertising and product development.

Telligent's flagship offering, Community Server, provides a fully integrated platform that utilizes social media to enhance customer relationships and brand engagement, and provide channels for customer insight and feedback. The product has more than 3,000 customers and includes blogging, web discussions, videos, RSS, wiki and rich user profiles.

'The way people work together is changing and communication is happening in real-time at a much faster pace,' says Telligent CEO and Founder Rob Howard. 'This significant investment from Intel Capital will allow us to grow our team, our capabilities and our reach during a time of market expansion.'

Arvind Sodhani, President of Intel Capital, says Telligent's social media applications will help 'push the boundaries' of online collaboration and communication.
