The jury in the trial for the murder of Research Now Finance Manager Cathy Marlow has retired to consider its verdict.
The accused, 33-year-old Matthew Fagan, told the court he left Miss Marlow tied up but alive after she stumbled upon his burglary attempt in the south London office of Research Now on 13th January last year.
US national Fagan, who had been sacked from Research Now nine months before the day of the killing, says Miss Marlow had recognised him during the burglary and started shouting. He admits the theft of six laptop computers from the firm the same day, but says following a struggle he left an accomplice, named only as 'John', with Miss Marlow on leaving the building.
