Regional Marketing Framework Next for COI

April 27 2009

In the UK, the Central Office of Information (COI) has followed up last week's announcement of a roster or 'framework' for Strategic Consultancy projects with the launch of a similar setup for regional marketing agencies.

Last week's move followed an upturn in stakeholder research and public consultation projects. The new launch is said to reflect the need for the COI's regional clients to access agencies with local insight and experience, while taking advantage of COI's expertise and extensive buying power. Previously, the team used existing COI frameworks and a preferred supplier list in each region.

The new Regional Integrated Agency Framework includes 45 agencies from across the UK, and will be managed by COI's Regional Client Account Team (Regional CAT). COI says it thoroughly evaluated 205 agencies and considered more than 400 case studies during the review, and selected on the basis of capability to provide a full service across advertising, direct marketing, design/branding, digital and PR.

The regions defined are:

  1. Midlands (East & West)
  2. North West
  3. North East & Yorkshire & the Humber
  4. South West
  5. East
  6. South East
  7. Scotland
  8. Wales and
  9. Northern Ireland.
Phil Fraser, Head of COI Regional CAT, comments: 'Clients are increasingly looking for agencies that can provide unique insight into what makes regional audiences tick and how to reach them. This framework allows us to provide in-depth regional support for clients who want to tap into that experience.'

COI Regional CAT acts as the front door to all COI's services, through locations in Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester and Leeds. Web site: www.coi.gov.uk .
