Cole Buys Out HammerTap

May 8 2009

Greg Cole, President of eBay research specialist HammerTap, has acquired sole ownership of the firm and its associated companies. Terms were not disclosed.

Greg ColeHe takes the reins from former co-owners Brian Clark, Todd Baum and Joe Rowberry along with former CEO Ty Hawkins.

Cole founded Bright Builders in 1997 to offer personal eCommerce education and coaching, as well as in-depth online market research analysis. In 2004, he acquired HammerTap Software and began the development process to follow eBay data regulations and to utilize licensed eBay market data.

In 2006, HammerTap LLC was established, and in 2007, Cole led HammerTap in the acquisition of Auction Trust Network, which offers a suite of tools for both online sellers and the shoppers who buy from them.

'Over the past year, our companies have transitioned focus from offering a wide array of services, including personal business mentoring, to a more focused effort toward developing innovative online business software products,' Cole explained. 'Changes in ownership and leadership within the company are a natural and progressive step in this process.'

HammerTap's new executive team includes Greg Cole as President, Michael Johnson as COO, Jen Cano as VP Marketing and Brian Cole as CFO.

Orem, UT-based HammerTap offers sellers and buyers in-depth market research tools, dedicated support and education to help increase sales and maximize profits. Last year, the firm launched a new feature that enables sellers to determine their chances of selling and likely profit margins.
