New Service Plots Consumer Traffic Flow

May 11 2009

In the US, digital signage firm Stratacache has launched a new service which provides in-store/in-branch consumer traffic pattern analysis to help firms assess the best positions for their digital signs.

Cameras watch consumers in-store to determine traffic flowThe system uses IP cameras to analyze the ongoing consumer traffic pattern within a retail store or branch location. This technology tracks their flow and dwell time through the retail environment to help companies select the optimal location for digital messaging based on consumers' in-store/in-branch behaviour.

With this intelligence, the firm says retailers and bank branches can improve customer service, respond to consumer shopping or traffic trends, and determine which promotions and products are most effective at generating interest and stimulating action.

After installation, the firm's new technology remains in place for up to four weeks, to enable continued analysis of consumer traffic and help determine changes in flow triggered by the digital signage.

When used in tandem with Stratacache's ActiVia Audience Measurement solution, the system can determine not only where customers travel within the store or branch and how they get there, but also what digital messages they focus on during their visit.

ActiVia for Media digital signage software manages the entire digital signage lifecycle for playlist creation, distribution, audience measurement and monitoring of large-scale digital signage networks.
