Pert Buys Pulsar Research and Market Directions

Pert Survey Research has announced the acquisition of two companies, customer experience and public policy consultancy Pulsar Research and brand and strategy consulting firm Market Directions; and the changing of its corporate name to the Pert Group.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Pert's President Dale Lersch said the two companies would complement PERT Survey Research's focus on brand health and development, giving clients 'a superior integrated approach to product/service innovation, positioning, and performance.'

The team from Kansas City, Missouri-based Market Directions, including founder Susan Spaulding, will continue to operate as part of The PERT Group. Spaulding comments: 'The vision of this combined group allows us to provide our clients strategic guidance from brand/service inception to brand protection and growth.'

Pulsar, which will also continue to operate as part of the PERT Group, was founded by two professors from the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT, Dr. Kenneth Dautrich and Christopher Barnes. Dr. Dautrich comments: 'the new organization will have the required intellectual assets to contribute to corporate, product and brand growth as well as to help form public policy using qualitative and quantitative methodologies, and advanced analytics for key insights and strategic decision-making.'

The Group now has considerable experience in b2b and b2c markets, specifically in consumer packaged goods, food service, financial and insurance, human and animal health care.

Lersch says the new group has 'set very high expectations' for itself and adds: 'In the coming months, we will transition to a new brand and corporate identity under The PERT Group and we will be creating a new website to communicate our broader services and capabilities.'
