TubeMogul Debuts Video Metrics Tool

May 29 2009

US online video analytics firm TubeMogul has launched a free measurement tool to provide viewer data for 15 different partner web sites.

Founded in 2006, TubeMogul provides online video producers, advertisers and the online video industry with publishing tools, analytics and performance metrics. The latest offering can track how long users view specific clips, where web video traffic comes from, and how viewing patterns might differ by geography.

The new product taps technology that TubeMogul acquired through last year's purchase of Illumenix, which offers a Flash-based video analytics service to enable video publishers, marketers and advertisers to measure online video audiences and analyze user interaction.

Sites that have signed up to allow TubeMogul to track video viewing include Brightcover, DailyMotion, MetaCafe, Blip.tv and Break.com .

CEO Brett Wilson says he is hoping that the tool will become an industry standard - current lacking for this type of measurement. 'TubeMogul can provide better insight on the different audience patterns exhibited by different content and different sites,' Wilson claims. 'This will accelerate standardization. It's good for everybody in the industry.'
