WhatRunsWhere Launches In-App Ad Measurement 'First'

March 11 2013

Ad appearance tracker WhatRunsWhere has launched a data gathering tool which it says allows clients to track competitors' use of in-app advertising 'for the first time'.

WhatRunsWhere enables clients to look up where online advertisers are running which ads, and from whom they are buying inventory. The new tool is currently available only for the Android platform, but works with more than 20,000 apps and will tell users where competitors' ads are running (and which ads), as well as who is selling those ads.

Co-founder and COO Max Teitelbaum says the launch means advertisers can 'develop intelligent strategies for deploying their mobile ad dollars'. He comments: 'Until now, apps have been an informational black hole for marketers seeking to implement effective campaigns. Advertisers and agencies were buying ads blind, with no real performance history data showing what types of ads had worked in what apps.'

The launch comes just over 6 months after WhatRunsWhere acquired UK-based start-up Mobile Ad Spy, which tracks details of ads running on mobile web sites around the globe.
