Gannett Flies In Vogel for Lead Research Role

Publishing giant Gannett has appointed media veteran Judy Vogel as Vice President of Research, responsible for leading corporate research and addressing ad sales, digital, editorial and brand strategy.

Judy VogelGannett's global network of broadcast, digital, mobile and print properties reaches more than 100 million people each month, with brands including USA Today, Careerbuilder.com, and the UK Newsquest newspaper group. Last year, the firm acquired social media ad technology firm BLiNQ Media - which delivers Facebook ad results combined with real-time audience insight.

Vogel (pictured) joins with a 30-year media research background. Most recently, she worked for media and marketing agency Media Storm as MD of Insights and Analysis, prior to which she was SVP, Director of Research at PHD, overseeing media research support for all buying units. Earlier in her career, Vogel held Director level research roles at OMD, BBDO Worldwide and Ketchum Advertising.

She is also a former member of the Board of Directors of the Audit Bureau of Circulations, a past Chair of the American Association of Advertising Agencies (4A's) Media Research Committee, Chair of the ARF Print Council, a Board member of the Media Ratings Council (MRC), and a member of the Council for Research Excellence.

In her new role, based in New York, Vogel reports to SVP and CMO Maryam Banikarim, who comments: 'We are excited Judy is joining us and bringing her proven track record and extensive research experience to Gannett. Her insight into consumers and media trends will be instrumental as we innovate and grow our businesses, as well as those of our clients.'
