US-based Curalate, which analyses image-based social media, has raised more than $8.5m in a second round of funding, and says it will be used for taking on staff, marketing and accelerated product development.
The firm began with an exclusive focus on Pinterest, but has since extended its reach to cover the content of sites including Instagram, Tumblr and Facebook. Earlier rounds of funding have helped with this, including $3m in Series A last January. Clients use the software to assess conversations and postings, prioritise action and management their response.
The latest round was led by NEA, whose general partner Harry Weller joins the Curalate board of directors; and is supported by previous investors First Round Capital and MentorTech Ventures, as well as social media guru Gary Vaynerchuck's new fund, Vayner RSE - Vaynerchuck becomes a company advisor.
